Why we give
Generosity is at the heart of the Christian life. We give because God first gave to us and calls us to a life of generosity - even in giving to the ministry of the local church. Giving reorients our heart away from our selves. This isn't only about money. We give our time, our talents, and our presence. We share our tables. We show up for one another.
Scripture calls God's people to give their "first fruits." In ancient times that was giving before they knew if there would be enough. How radical! That kind of giving requires trust. But with God, there is always enough.
