Statement of Faith
We affirm the historic creeds of the Christian church found in the apostles’ and Nicene creeds.
Our beliefs and distinctives are not shaped by personal preferences but our deep reflection on the Scriptures and our desire to allow our beliefs and distinctives to be shaped by our understanding of Scripture alone.
Our Basic Beliefs
Much more can be said, but this is our attempt at a succinct statement on our beliefs as attested from the Scriptures.
We believe in God who eternally exists in the form of three persons and one essence. While much more can be said, this also remains a great mystery.
We believe God has made himself known through His Son, the Scriptures, and His creation.
We believe Scripture (the 66 books of the Bible) to be the inspired Word of God. It is authoritative and without error in the original writings and sufficient for all that God requires us to believe and do.
We believe that God created the world from nothing to reveal the glory of his eternal power, wisdom, and goodness.
We believe that God created male and female in His own image. Therefore, all humans possess intrinsic worth and dignity. We also believe that sin (i.e. our rebellion, disobedience, and betrayal of God) has corrupted all that is in the world and has left us in desperate need for healing, forgiveness, and restoration. Humans are incapable of reversing the effect of sin. They are powerless to save themselves. Thus, we are not basically good people but people who have been corrupted and broken by sin.
We believe that salvation comes by grace alone through faith alone. (Salvation being a word that embodies a reversal of the impact of sin. It involves becoming reconciled with God, freed from the bondage of sin, and forgiven.)
We do not earn salvation through good works. Good works are a response to God’s good work for and in us. He frees us from sin so that we might walk in the new life – growing in maturity and holiness.
We believe that Jesus, through His death, has satisfied God’s justice on our behalf and frees us from the curse of sin. He paid the debt that we could not pay. By His resurrection He was vindicated and became the way of life for any who believe on Him. Salvation is found through no one else.

We believe that salvation is applied to his people by the Holy Spirit. Sent by the Father and the Son, the Holy Spirit glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ, and is present in believers. He convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and by his powerful and mysterious work regenerates spiritually dead sinners, awakening them to repentance and faith. In him, they are sealed and marked by God as His possession. By the Spirit, believers are renewed, sanctified, and adopted into God’s family. The Holy Spirit is himself the down payment of the promised inheritance, and in this age indwells, guides, instructs, equips, revives, and empowers believers for Christ-like living and service.
We believe that the Church consists of believers who gathered under Christ and form as representative people. They are a diverse gathering of people from a variety of nations and cultures, yet sharing one faith that unites them. Though imperfect, God has ordained that it be sent into the world to shine forth the glory of God. They form the body of Christ displaying love for one another, service and good works in this world.
We believe that God cares about righteousness and justice. God’s justice seeks to rightly order the world.
We believe that Christ will one day bring about His justice and the restoration of all things.
